Artist Bio

I'm Reggie Martinez (they/them), a Chicago native currently enrolled at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago, pursuing my BFA (2028) with a focus in Photography. Film photography is embedded into the base of my work often times coinciding with darkroom printing methods, as I manipulate its physical qualities to best suit my conceptual and aesthetic needs. Throughout my practice, I've explored many themes relating to trauma, gender, memory, and queerness, all have which not only fulfilled my desire to express my reality, but have also given me new avenues to connect with those around me. Building true connection and understanding with my peers through art is just as important to me as finding myself through my photography.
